    Kokonte, also known as cassava dough or cassava fufu, is a traditional Ghanaian dish made from fermented cassava roots. It is a staple food in Ghana and is enjoyed as a main course or side dish in various meals.
     
    Kokonte is often served with traditional Ghanaian soups or stews such as groundnut soup, palm nut soup, or light soup. It is eaten by tearing off small portions of the dough with the fingers, rolling them into a ball, and dipping them into the soup before being consumed. The stretchy nature of kokonte allows it to pick up the flavors of the soup and provides a satisfying texture.
     
    In addition to its taste and texture, kokonte is appreciated for its filling and nutritious qualities. Cassava, the main ingredient of kokonte, is a starchy root crop that is a good source of carbohydrates and dietary fiber.

    Last year's December, we visited home, Ghana and we couldn't resist talking to some incredible food vendors who inculcate the black hot sauce in their food. It was an interesting experience as we had the august opportunity to have them tell us the benefits of black hot sauce and why everyone needs to include it in their diet.

    This woman here, has been selling waakye for over a decade an she is well know in Labadi and its environs. Before moving to the USA, she was my Waakye "plug" and I felt my visit to Ghana wouldn't have been complete if I hadn't visited her store to eat waakye. The food still tasted the same and the Shito (black hot sauce) still gave me the "chills"- Rama
