Our Story
"Over a decade of revering the African hot sauce"

"I can recall my initial encounter with a food vendor, which happened to be the waakye seller at Dansoman, Last stop over Shito. I was quite dismayed by the meager portion she served me atop that pile of waakye, especially considering that it was the crucial element that brought the entire meal together. To me, Shito is life" - Rama
It's always an incredible feeling to know that your favorite food joint is consistently open when hunger strikes. Take, for example, the sheer delight of having your waakye served with an ample supply of "shito" (black hot sauce). In all honesty, enjoying a delicious meal has the power to turn your day around, which is precisely why many folks express their dissatisfaction when they receive minimal or no hot sauce from the waakye seller. This sentiment holds true not just for the fried yam vendor, the "shito lo" seller, the banku vendor, and the "kenkey seller," but for all of us. It's evident that what truly elevates these dishes to greatness is the presence of that delectable hot sauce. This highlights the paramount importance of hot sauce in our culture and daily lives.
Afro Foods originated as a means to reconnect with our cultural roots within the context of a diaspora. In a place as diverse as the United States, where people from various backgrounds try to replicate the authentic flavors of their homelands, achieving that can often be challenging. Afro Foods recognized this need and took it upon ourselves to make it happen. Our commitment led us to source all our ingredients directly from our home country, Ghana, in Africa. We understand that the essence of a great dish lies in its sauce, and ours has to be nothing short of perfect.
While there are many similar sauces available worldwide, we take pride in the uniqueness of our product. Our sauces are not just about taste; they are thoughtfully designed for convenience and aesthetics. We offer a variety of flavors and a range of heat levels to cater to diverse palates. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their cultural background, can savor the exquisite taste of our sauces.
To all the dedicated food vendors at Rawlings Park, Dansoman, Toonga, Kasoa Last Stop, and those hidden culinary gems, we want to express our gratitude. Afro Foods is our way of extending your tireless efforts and exceptional flavors to a broader audience, sharing the rich culinary traditions that make your dishes so special with the world.
